This is the Oversized Ball Pit (47" wide, 15" tall) that fits in your living room and gets played with every single day for years. Furniture-grade velvet that survives countless washes. Super high density foam that bounces back no matter how many times they jump on it. 400 food-grade, crush-proof balls that don't smell like chemicals. Because you're allowed to have the joy of a public ball pit without the germs, the crowds, or the meltdowns when it's time to leave. Free shipping to contiguous US states.
All the Ways They'll Play (Ages 12 Months - 6 Years):
- Jump, dive, and bury themselves in the balls for sensory play
- Build "nests" and hideouts for imaginative adventures (spaceship, castle, ocean, cave)
- Practice throwing and catching balls to develop motor skills
- Use as a reading nook or quiet space when they need to decompress
- Host playdates without worrying about space (fits multiple kids)
- Create obstacle courses and games with siblings
- Enjoy independent play while you get things done nearby
Why This One Actually Lasts:
- Thick, furniture-quality velvet that feels like your couch (not thin fabric that rips or pills after a few washes)
- High quality foam that's 20% denser than regular ball pits (bounces back after kids jump on it, adults lean on it, or you sit on the edge)
- 400 food-grade LDPE balls included (same safe plastic as baby bottles and sippy cups—most ball pits don't include balls at all)
- Premium zippers that won't break or catch (zippers are the #1 failure point on ball pits—we use the highest quality available)
- Cover actually fits after washing (cheaper ones shrink or the foam doesn't fit back in—ours is engineered to work wash after wash)
This isn't the cheapest ball pit. It's the last ball pit. The one that survives toddlerhood, preschool years, and early elementary without collapsing, tearing, or becoming an eyesore you're desperate to hide. At $7/month for 3 years, it's the toy investment that actually pays off—in peace, in play, in the extra minutes you get back while your child is completely absorbed.

FAQs
Is it really worth $259?
Let's do the math: if you use this ball pit for only 3 years (it's intended to last longer), it comes out to $7/month. Your child will play with this ball pit almost every day - just ask your other parent friends with ball pits.
Also, here's what cheaper versions don't tell you: most don't include balls (add $100-120 for 400 balls). The foam is 20% less dense, so it collapses inward within months. The cover shrinks or warps after washing, and the foam doesn't fit back inside. And the balls? They escape constantly because the cover doesn't wrap underneath.
This one includes all 400 food-grade balls, uses furniture-grade foam that bounces back after kids jump on it or adults lean on it, and the cover is designed to fit perfectly wash after wash. The balls stay contained because the cover wraps over the bottom pad.
How long does setup take?
Total time: 5-10 minutes.
- Unbox and remove packaging (2 minutes)
- Unfold the ball pit—it expands immediately (1 minute)
- Pour in the 400 balls (2-5 minutes depending on if your toddler "helps")
That's it. No assembly, no tools, no complicated instructions.
Note: The ball pit may not be perfectly circular when first decompressed from shipping. This is normal. It will naturally conform to its proper round shape over a few days as the foam fully expands and settles. It's ready to play in immediately, even while the foam is still reaching full firmness.
Will my child outgrow it quickly?
At 47" wide, this is one of the largest ball pits available—big enough for 2-3 kids at once. If you're planning for more children, you won't need to buy another one. Siblings can play together from toddler years through early elementary.
Most families use this from 12 months through 6 years. At first, it's sensory play. Then it becomes a spaceship, hideout, reading nook, whatever they imagine. They don't get bored because it's big enough for real play, not just sitting in balls.
Does it take up too much space?
It replaces about 10 smaller toys scattered across your floor. Most families find they gain space because play happens in one spot instead of spreading across three rooms. Plus, at 47" diameter, it fits comfortably in standard living rooms without dominating the space.
And unlike regular 35" ball pits that feel cramped, this one is actually big enough for kids to play for an hour straight without feeling confined.
Why is it made of polyester? I'm trying to avoid plastics.
We get this question a lot, and it's a fair concern. Here's the honest answer:
The balls are plastic (food-grade LDPE—same as baby bottles). If you're comfortable with your child touching plastic balls, the polyester cover is the same type of material. What matters most is what's in the materials, not what they're made from.
Our polyester velvet is:
- Third-party safety tested for harmful chemicals (lead, heavy metal, phthalates)
- Free from harmful dyes or treatments
- The same material used in children's clothing and bedding you likely already own
- More durable and washable than cotton (which shrinks, tears, and wears out faster)
Why polyester over cotton?
Cotton ball pits shrink in the wash, tear easily, and the foam doesn't fit back in the cover after washing. Polyester maintains its shape, survives countless washes, and the stretch fabric moves with active play without tearing.
The key is third-party safety testing and material quality—not whether it's "natural." Your child's safety comes from what's NOT in the materials (no harmful chemicals, dyes, or treatments), which our testing confirms.
How do I clean 400 balls?
Quick Method (Monthly):
Wipe down balls with damp cloth and mild soap. Takes about 15 minutes.
Deep Clean (Every 3-4 months):
Fill bathtub with warm water and mild soap, add balls, swish around for a few minutes, drain, rinse with clean water, and air dry on towels. Takes about 30 minutes total.
Individual cleaning:
Balls can be wiped down as needed after spills or if they get sticky.
The food-grade LDPE material is water-resistant and easy to clean. Most families find a quarterly deep clean in the bathtub works well, with spot cleaning as needed between washes.
Do the balls escape everywhere?
No, and here's why: the bottom and sides zip together for easy assembly. Other ball pits have covers that sit ON TOP of the foam, so balls roll under and escape across your house.
What's your return policy?
Before Opening: 30-day returns accepted. Product ships compressed in original packaging. Return shipping is customer responsibility per our standard policy.
After Opening: 30-day returns still accepted with 25% restocking fee. The ball pit ships compressed but expands to full 47" size when opened. It can be returned in the same box it arrived in. Return shipping is customer responsibility.
Why the restocking fee? Once opened, we can't resell the ball pit. The fee covers inspection, repackaging, and processing costs.
Before you open, we recommend:
- Measure your space carefully (47" diameter = almost 4 feet wide)

- Check that your room layout works for the footprint
- Email us with questions—we're here to help you decide
We want you to feel confident in your purchase before opening the package.
What's the warranty?
6-month warranty on materials and construction. If the foam compresses and doesn't bounce back, the fabric tears, or the zipper breaks in the first year, we'll replace it.
What exactly does the warranty cover?
Covered (Manufacturing Defects):
- Foam that loses density and doesn't bounce back to shape
- Fabric tears or seam failures from normal use
- Zipper breakage or malfunction
- Cover shrinking or warping after following care instructions
- Balls that crack or break under normal play conditions
Not Covered (Damage from Use):
- Damage from pets (scratches, bites, claw marks)
- Stains, spills, or discoloration from food, drinks, or dirt
- Damage from improper cleaning (hot water, bleach, harsh chemicals)
- Tears or damage from sharp objects
- Lost balls
- Normal wear and tear (slight pilling, minor color fading after extended use)
- Damage from outdoor use (UV exposure, moisture, mold)
How to File a Claim:
Email us photos of the defect within the 6-month warranty period. We'll review and arrange replacement or repair if covered under warranty terms.
What if my dog or cat damages it?
Pet damage (claw marks, scratches, bites, tears) is not covered under warranty. The velvet fabric is durable but not pet-proof.
If you have pets:
- Supervise when pets are near the ball pit
- Consider keeping it in a room pets don't access
- Cats may be attracted to the texture—plan accordingly
Small punctures or tears can sometimes be repaired with fabric patches, but significant pet damage may require cover replacement (available for purchase separately—contact us for pricing).
Can I buy replacement balls?
Yes! Replacement balls are available for purchase separately. Email us at contact@playroomcollective.com and we'll send you a link to order additional balls.
